De Kwakel, June 2023 – Martien Meiland and Erica Renkema, famous from the Dutch television program Chateau Meiland, christened their own garden hydrangea on Tuesday 20 June. The garden hydrangea was bred by the Hydrangea Breeders Association (HBA) and named Code Rosé. The name refers to the guest house in Noordwijk where the Meiland family is currently busy renovating. Erica: “I can’t wait to plant this hydrangea in the guest house garden for guests to enjoy.” Martien: “I love hydrangeas because they give so many beautiful, large flowers for such a long time.”
Breeder HBA spent nine years developing the hydrangea Code Rosé. Code Rosé is a strong garden plant that flowers during the summer months. The bright pink flowers have a unique dark pink edge. The dark green leaves provide a surprising contrast. Code Rosé blooms again every summer and once fully grown, this garden hydrangea is about 120 cm high. The new hydrangea is expected to be available in garden centers from spring 2024.
